VisaScreen® statistical data The VisaScreen®: Visa Credentials Assessment program is designed to meet the requirements of Section 343 of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act (IIRIRA) of 1996. Section 343 requires that certain health care professionals, who are not U.S. citizens and desire to work as a health care professionals in the United States, successfully complete a screening program prior to receiving permanent or temporary occupational visas, including Trade NAFTA status.This includes clinical laboratory technicians (medical technicians), clinical laboratory scientists (medical technologists), licensed practical or vocational nurses, occupational therapists, physician assistants, physical therapists, registered nurses, speech language pathologists and audiologists. CGFNS International was named in the 1996 legislation as an organization qualified to offer this federal screening program. In response to this legislation, CGFNS created a new division, the International Commission on Healthcare Professions (ICHP), which administers VisaScreen®.
