About the Credential Verification Service for New York State
The New York State Education Department requires that internationally-educated:
Registered Nurses Licensed Practical Nurses Physical Therapists Physical Therapy Assistants Occupational Therapists Occupational Therapy Assistants
obtain independent verification of the authenticity of their credentials from a State Education Department approved Credential Verification service.
The CGFNS Credential Verification Service for New York State independently collects and verifies the authenticity of an applicant's educational and licensure/registration credentials. Once verified, the credentials are forwarded to the New York State Education Department to be evaluated as part of the applicant's licensure application.

| 2Applicants will be given 12 months to meet the requirements of the program before the order is expired. Once an order is expired, an applicant has 12 months to apply to re-process an expired order and pay the fee associated with this service. Re-process orders will remain open for 12 months starting from the date the re-process order is placed. A re-process order cannot be placed until the previous order has been expired. |
3On November 13, 2007, CGFNS International announced new pricing for its Credential Verification Service for New York State effective January 1, 2008. The new price was necessitated by increases in fees charged by primary sources for securing required documents on behalf of applicants. |
