JANUARY 8, 2002 New members and officers elected to the Commission on Graduates New members were recently appointed and new officers elected to the board of trustees of the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. CGFNS’s newly elected board of trustees officers are: President Phyllis Kritek, PhD, RN, FAAN, Professor of Nursing, School of Nursing, Virginia Commonwealth University; Vice-President C. Alicia Georges, EdD, RN, FAAN, Lecturer and Coordinator for the RN Program at Lehman College Department of Nursing; Treasurer Marcia Rachel, PhD, RN, Executive Director of the Mississippi State Board of Nursing; and Secretary Alice Baumgart, PhD, RN (retired) who retains her position. CGFNS also welcomes new board members Charles Gessert, MD, MPH, Senior Research Scientist, St. Mary’s Duluth Clinic Health System; John Kaiser, MS, President, Keystone Organization Consultants, Inc.; and Nilda Peragallo, DrPH, RN, FAAN, Associate Professor, Department of Behavioral and Community Health Nursing, School of Nursing, University of Maryland. All positions became effective January 1, 2002. CGFNS bids farewell to three board members: Beverly Bonaparte, PhD, RN, FAAN, Professor, Department of Nursing, Medger Evers College of CUNY; Harriet Clark, JD (retired); and Aileen Kishi, PhD, RN, Associate Professor of Clinical Nursing, School of Nursing, University of Texas at Austin. All three have made enormous contributions in helping CGFNS to fulfill its mission. CGFNS is an immigration-neutral, nonprofit organization based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, and is an internationally recognized authority on the education, registration and licensure of nurses worldwide. CGFNS’s mission is to provide responsible leadership in the delivery of relevant services to the global nursing and health care community.
